Most active VC firms right now: the top VC companies with a deal in the last 90 days
Which venture capital firms are actively deploying capital, ranked by their deals on Recent Funding, with the investors that did the most deals in the last 90 days, the accelerators still writing checks, and the API calls that reproduce every list.
The most active VC firms right now are the ones with a deal in a round announced in the last 90 days. On October 3, 2026, 1905 of the 5353 funds on Recent Funding had at least one, counting every round announced since July 5, 2026. Ranked by deals over the last 12 months, the top VC companies among them are Andreessen Horowitz (52 deals, 13 of them in the last 90 days), General Catalyst (34, 10) and Accel (28, 12).
Every list below is a call to the public endpoint GET /api/v1/investors, shown with the exact parameters, so you can rerun it and get today's version.
How to make the request
The API is public, read-only JSON. No key is needed. In a terminal:
curl "https://recentfunding.com/api/v1/investors?active=1&sort=deals_12m&limit=20"
In JavaScript (browser or Node 18+):
const res = await fetch("https://recentfunding.com/api/v1/investors?active=1&sort=deals_12m&limit=20");
const { total, investors } = await res.json();
for (const i of investors) console.log(i.name, i.deals_90d, i.deals_12m);
In Python:
import requests
data = requests.get("https://recentfunding.com/api/v1/investors",
params={"active": 1, "sort": "deals_12m", "limit": 20}).json()
for i in data["investors"]:
print(i["name"], i["deals_90d"], i["deals_12m"])
The parameters:
active=1: only investors with a deal in a round announced in the last 90 days (leave it out for every investor).sort:deals_12m(default),companies(portfolio size),capitalorrecent(latest deal first).type:funds(default),acceleratorsorall.limit(up to 500) andoffsetto page; the response'snext_offsetis the next page, ornullat the end.q: search by name ("a16z" finds Andreessen Horowitz).
A free API key is optional: create one at /account/ and send it as Authorization: Bearer <your key> to see your usage. The full reference is in the API docs.
What "actively deploying" means here
A deal is a funding round on Recent Funding that names the investor, taken from the round's announcement. An investor is actively deploying when at least one of those rounds was announced in the last 90 days. That is the default view of the investors page, and active=1 on the API.
Three things to keep in mind when reading the counts:
- A deal is a round, not a check. Leading a large round and joining a small one each count once. Nothing here measures how much a firm put in.
- The counts cover rounds on Recent Funding, which is a subset of each firm's real activity. Rounds that were never announced, or whose announcement doesn't name the investors, are missing.
- "Funds" means every investor that isn't an accelerator program: venture firms, corporate investors and individual angels. Accelerators are ranked separately because each batch company counts as a deal.
The 20 most active VC firms
These are the actively deploying funds with the most deals over the last 12 months. "Deals, 90d" counts rounds announced in the last 90 days, which is what puts a firm on this list at all; "Portfolio" is every company on Recent Funding it has backed, in any year.

deals_90d and deals_12m count rounds by their announcement date, companies is the size of the portfolio on Recent Funding (all years), and leads is how many of the firm's deals it led.
VC firms with the most deals in the last 90 days
A 12-month count rewards firms that were busy earlier in the year. To see who is investing right now, narrow to the last 90 days: 19 funds have five or more deals since July 5, 2026, and 299 have at least two. Most actively deploying investors, in other words, appear in just one recent round.

One row is not a firm: "Angel Investors" is how some announcements list angels without naming them, and the API keeps it as written. Its page shows the rounds behind it.
The API doesn't sort by deals_90d, so this list is the 12-month ranking filtered on it. Every fund with five recent deals has at least five in the year, so the first 500 rows are enough.
Request:
curl -s "https://recentfunding.com/api/v1/investors?active=1&sort=deals_12m&limit=500" | jq '[.investors[] | select(.deals_90d >= 5) | {name, deals_90d, deals_12m}]'
Insight Partners is one of the larger firms whose year is weighted to the last quarter: 10 of its 16 deals in the last year came in the last 90 days. Coinbase Ventures (10 of 23) is the most active crypto investor on the list. For crypto companies specifically, see crypto startups that raised in the last 90 days.
Accelerators that are still investing
11 of the 38 accelerator programs on Recent Funding have a batch company or other deal announced in the last 90 days.

Y Combinator dominates because every company in a batch is a deal: 144 in the last 90 days. For the companies themselves, see Y Combinator companies on Recent Funding and the accelerators directory.
Who invested most recently
Sorting by recent puts the investors in the latest announced rounds first. Several investors in the same round share its date, so the top of this list is often one or two rounds seen through all of their backers.

Every round in rounds_with_investor carries the source_url of the announcement it came from. The same data is on the firm's page: Andreessen Horowitz on Recent Funding.
How to use this list
- If you're raising, start from firms with recent deals at your stage. The detail endpoint's
allocation.stagesand thelatest_dealstage show where a firm has been writing checks, and the co-investors show who tends to join its rounds. - If you're tracking the market, compare
deals_90dwithdeals_12m: a firm with most of its year's deals in the last quarter is speeding up. - If you're building on the data, page through the full active list with
limitandoffset(up to 500 per request). The API docs list every parameter, and using the Recent Funding API covers paging and errors.
Investor names are grouped as they are written in announcements, so the same firm under a very different name, or a generic label, can appear as its own row. If you spot one, the investor's page lists the rounds behind its count.
For the companies on the other side of these deals, see seed-stage startups that raised recently, Series A funding in 2026 and Series B funding in 2026. The crypto startup leaderboard ranks the companies rather than their investors.
